Free Event Once at Rosario Chapel, the faithful flock to pay homage to the 29-inch Marian figure, La Conquistadora, which first arrived at this site on September 13, 1692. A week-long series of masses are celebrated daily at 6 AM. The novena is nine successive days of prayer in honor of Don Diego de Vargas’ request for a special intercessory grace upon his arrival in 1692.

Free Event The ninth and finale day of the novena is held at the home of La Conquistadora. The procession and novena to Our Lady is a tradition that has been carried out by the faithful of Santa Fe for many years. These spiritual events take place in the City of Holy Faith which is rich with culture, heritage, and faith. An experience that one should not miss.

Rev. Timothy A. Martinez Free Event A celebration of the Eucharist officiated by the 12th Archbishop of Santa Fe, The Very Reverend John C. Wester, as called for in the City of Santa Fe Proclamation of September 16, 1712 establishing Fiesta de Santa Fe. The mass is infused with beautiful traditional music, dance prayer by Native American community members, mariachi and the individuals portraying the notable Don Diego de Vargas, his Cuadrilla and the Royal Court.

Mass of Thanksgiving and Candlelight Procession

A candlelight procession follows a Mass of Thanksgiving at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi.
