Each summer the faithful of Santa Fe gather to ensure that Don Diego de Vargas’ promise is kept to honor the oldest Marian statue in the United States, Nuestra Senora de la Paz, La Conquistadora. This beautiful tradition begins with the knighting and coronation mass for the individuals selected to portray the roles of Don Diego de Vargas, his cuadrilla, La Reina de la Fiesta de Santa Fe™, and her royal court.

Prior to the Knighting and Coronation mass will be held which is day 1 of the nine day Novena in honor of La Conquistadora.
